This site is run by a private individual in Ireland. It has no advertising and no tracking cookies. It uses one cookieless visitor counter, described below. Here is everything it stores.
When you use "Add your trip", we store the tips you typed and the trip length, month and travel method you chose. We don't ask for your name or email, and we don't record your IP address. Tips may be reworded and published on this site, anonymously. They're stored with Supabase in the EU (Paris).
Saving a tip to My list creates an anonymous identifier in your browser. It keeps your list in this browser on this device only, and it isn't linked to a name or email. A copy of the list is stored with Supabase in the EU and can only be read with that identifier. To move your list to another device, or out of the Facebook app into your normal browser, use Share my list. Clearing your browser's site data removes the identifier.
Agrees ("I found this true too") are stored with Supabase in the EU under the same anonymous identifier as My list, so you can take one back.
The site keeps small settings in your browser (your last filter, your list, the anonymous identifier above). These are needed for the site to work and are never sent anywhere except the storage described here and, for the anonymous visit counts above, GoatCounter. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there's no cookie banner.
The site uses GoatCounter to count visits, which pages are viewed, and which tips and booking buttons are opened. GoatCounter is cookieless and stores no personal data: it doesn't set cookies, doesn't keep your IP address, and doesn't follow you between sites. Details are in GoatCounter's privacy statement.
If you leave an email address with a suggestion, it's used only to reply to you.
"Check tickets" buttons on the Tours list are affiliate links to GetYourGuide. This site sends nothing about you to GetYourGuide; once you click through, their own privacy policy and cookies apply on their site.
The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs for a short period. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google.
You can ask what we hold or ask for it to be deleted at any time. Email irelandinhindsight@gmail.com. For a submitted tip, include roughly when you sent it and what it said. To remove My list, clear this site's data in your browser, or email us and we'll delete it.
If you're unhappy with how a request is handled, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, dataprotection.ie.
