← Ireland, in hindsight

How this works

Updated October 2026

Most "tips for Ireland" pages are one person's opinion. This site is a count. We read trip reports written by visitors after they got home, on travel forums (TripAdvisor, Fodor's, Rick Steves), personal blogs and Reddit, and on the Add your trip form here. Every piece of advice in those reports is pulled out, reworded in plain language, and filed with other tips that say the same thing. The number beside each line is how many separate trips said it.

What the number means

If a tip shows "23 visitors", 23 of the 337 trip reports we've counted gave that advice. It isn't a vote and it isn't a rating. A tip with a high count is one that lots of people, independently, thought worth passing on. Tips said by only one person are kept, but shown separately as single mentions until somebody else backs them up.

Under an opened tip you can tap "I found this true too". Agrees are shown separately and don't change the order.

What we change

Quotes under each tip are condensed from real trip reports, and names of writers are not shown. Where someone named a specific pub, walk, chipper or road, we keep the name, because that's the useful part.

What we don't do

Limits

Reports lean towards road trips, the west coast and American visitors, because that's who writes trip reports. Some older reports mention prices and rules that have changed. Treat everything here as other people's experiences, not official advice, and check opening times, prices and routes before you go.
