What most people said
- If you have a car, almost everyone says skip the paid tour and drive; it's about 90 minutes from Galway.
- Book visitor centre tickets online in advance; parking is included. Hags Head and the cliff walk from Doolin are alternative viewpoints.
- Doolin Ferry Co is widely praised for seeing the cliffs from below, but boats run roughly March to November and can be rough.
- Without a car, buses run from Galway to the cliffs and Doolin; daylight is short in late autumn.
What people said
- Honestly, since you already have the car, I'd skip the tour and just drive yourselves. Late November days are short and it gets dark around 4:30 pm, so head out in the morning.
- There are buses (not tours) that go from Galway, Eyre Sq. or bus station to Doolin. You can stop at the cliffs or go/return directly depending on the bus. About 2.5 - 3 hours each way.
- Doolin Ferry Company was absolutely fantastic. It was a very rough crossing to Inis Oírr, but not once did I feel worried. Viewing the cliffs from below was truly amazing.
